Welcome to our website and we are very grateful for your interest. I’d like to give you a brief summary of the history of Productos Concentrol S.A.

Parents have a great influence on their children’s future careers, as my father did on mine. When choosing between studying music or chemistry, he thought that the latter would be better - so I studied engineering. My father set up a small dye factory for second-hand clothes, a business which eventually died out due to a change of tendencies on the market. After his death, I went to work in the laboratory at Minersa lead, blend and spar mines in Osor but soon afterwards was offered a position in an important multinational company as area delegate, responsible for sales in all departments except pharmacy. This enabled me to get to know almost all the industrial sectors in depth, which encouraged me to set up my own company – using its actual name, Productos Concentrol in memory of my father’s trade name – Concentrol Dyes.

We started to manufacture release agents for polyurethane foam, as no other factory in Spain produced these. Besides, as we had previously manufactured powder and liquid detergents on a small scale, sulfonating dodecilebenzene, this now meant experience in the speciality of wax emulsions and tensioactives.

The company where I worked, knew of my ambitions to start my own company but did not stand in my way, so I was able to combine both activities. However, I had to employ a chemist, 2 office workers and 3 factory workers and we gradually started to enter the market.

Later on, I bought more land and built industrial premises of 4000 sq. mts., with much bigger reactors and larger laboratories. We aso began to manufacture tackifying colophone resins for self adhesive paper, as no one else produced these in Spain, and polivinyl acetate polymers for our own use. Once we were well known for release agents on the international market, American companies made me interesting offers to buy Concentrol- but my enterprising nature urged me to carry on, especially as I had 3 sons. For this reason, I constituted a joint stock company as president; my son Jaume, who is a chemist, is the manager, Luís is responsible for sales, and Josep is between sales and production.

I am greatly satisfied to say that those who were with us at the beginning are still working here. Productos Concentrol S.A. started its activity in January 1986, although it started out in 1970 as an individual titular enterprise belonging to the actual president and main shareholder of the company, Josep Guàrdia Rodà . Our philosophy is, and was, the manufacture of chemical specialities for different sectors, always high quality products at competitive prices, which can be exported to any country. We have followed a policy of consolidation with stable growth, paying special attention to research and development of new products, which results in a constant challenge to innovation and the best attention to our clients-always trying to offer them rapid and efficient solutions in every aspect so that they will always find the greatest co-operation in us. As a result, we have a vast quantity of regular clients.

We never lose interest- on the contrary, we will keep on searching for new products and markets, continuing to be a family company with ambitious projects but trying to be a good company rather than a big one. We look for international recognition to innovation in research and development, with the help of professionals, chemistry graduates, doctors and engineers as well as outside collaborators. To be precise, we try to be useful to industries in general or in other words- to society itself.
